Dr. Saswata Roy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Technology at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (ABV-IIITM), Gwalior. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, (IIT) Patna, in 2024. He received the M.Tech degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dhanbad, in 2014.  Before joining ABV-IIITM, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Bhubaneswar, India.

Dr. Roy’s research focuses on Rumor Verification, Multimodal Explainable Misinformation Detection, Intelligent transportation Systems, and Crisis Informatics. His work is published in prestigious conferences such as PAKDD (Core A, Acceptance rate: 19%), IEEE ANTS and journals like Expert Systems with Applications, Information Processing & Management, Engineering Applications in Artificial Intelligence, and International Journal of Data Science and Analytics. He resolved several research challenges with the help of deep neural networks. He primarily works on building Neural Network Models using Keras, Tensorflow, PyTorch. In his previous role at IIT Patna, Dr. Roy created a real-time cyber-monitoring tool called Digimonitor.
